It’s not called ‘the most wonderful time of year’ for no reason. The festive period can bring out the best in everyone, and between the music, the movies, the parties, and of course, the food, there is enough to go around to make everyone jolly – and that’s before the Buck’s Fizz or sherry is opened! The holiday spirit fully took over Marchmont and Wilby House in 2021 as the staff, carers, and residents alike all took comfort in Christmas after another challenging but often rewarding year for care homes across the country. Find out all about how Wilby House celebrated the holidays below!
Just as big – and often important – as Christmas Day is the preparation in the lead-up. As stressful, crazy, and chaotic as it can be getting everything ready, it can also be a lot of fun with plenty of opportunities for some festive activities. Nowhere is this truer than at Wilby House where Fife’s own fleet of Santa’s little helpers were kept busy helping transform the home into a winter wonderland. With the residents all chipping in and lending a helping hand, it wasn’t long before the list of tasks were all getting ticked off from decorations being made, to Christmas cards being written off a sent away. Time flies when you’ve got a team as dedicated as ours!
When the big day itself arrived, the residents were ready with Wilby House stocking up on a full armoury of selection boxes, sweeties, mince pies, and maybe even a wee glass of sherry too – it was Christmas after all. Everyone had a fantastic Christmas day with plenty of festive cheer and joy being passed around, along with plenty of presents from friends and family to spoil the residents just like they deserve!
