Night Shift Care Assistant (Marchmont)
We are looking for a dedicated Care Assistant to join our team at Marchmont.
2x full time positions 36.75 hrs over 7 nights
1x position 24.5 hrs over 7 nights
Hourly rate £12.20
Skills Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential:
- Genuine interest in working within care of elderly persons
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Attending mandatory training
- Willingness to attend vocational training programmes
Desired:
- Have SVQ Level II or III or working towards minimum SVQ Level II.
- Experience in working with elderly persons in a care setting.
Outline of Duties
- Assist/support residents in all aspects of care needs, including physical, emotional, social and spiritual, ensuring that they retain their comfort and dignity.
- Assist in the promotion of continence.
- Assist in the delivery of care for residents at end stage of life or with a progressive illness. Assist with last offices. Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained for the dying and bereaved.
- Answer call system, giving assistance as required.
- Carry out regular checks on residents at intervals throughout the night
- Ensure correct use of equipment e.g. hoists and wheelchairs. Participate in safety checks and cleaning of equipment including hearing aids/spectacles.
- Dispose of waste as per company policies and procedures
- Cleaning / laundry duties included in the role
Health and Safety
- Contribute to the health, safety and security of all residents and colleagues, ensuring the environment remains clean, tidy and free from hazards.
- Be aware of and ensure the implementation of the company’s health and safety policy and emergency and fire procedures.
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures. Report immediately to home manager or person in charge any illness of infectious nature.
- Report to home manager, person in charge or handy person, any faulty appliances, equipment, furniture or any potential hazard.
- Report any accident incurred by resident, self or others.
Training and Development
- Participate in supervision sessions and be willing to be active in your own development, acquiring new skills and ongoing training.
- Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
- Attend mandatory training days/courses on or off site.
- Participate in relevant SVQ training to achieve required qualifications.
- You will be required to register and conduct your working practices with the Scottish Social Services Codes of Practice.
