JOB TITLE: CARE MANAGER

REPORTING TO: PROPRIETORS

JOB PURPOSE: To plan implement and supervise the provision of quality care which reflects best practice and meets all regulations/legislations. To maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, staff members and visitors. To work in accordance with company policies and procedures and employee handbook. To ensure that residents are treated with respect and dignity and that privacy and choice are actively observed.

Skills Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential: Previous Supervisory experience. Excellent communication skills both written and oral.

Desired:  SVQ level IV in management or equivalent or be working towards.

Personal Qualities: Ability to demonstrate a flexible and innovative approach to work. Good interpersonal skills.


Main Responsibilities:

  1. Manage a service which achieves the best possible outcomes for the individual.
  2. Produce, evaluate and amend service delivery plans to meet individual needs and preferences.
  3. Promote and manage a quality provision.
  4. Manage requests for health and care services.

  6. Develop, implement and review care plans with individuals.
  7. Promote leisure opportunities and meaningful activities for individuals. Promote training and education opportunities for individuals.
  8. Develop, implement and review programmes of support for all employees.
  9. Support the protection of individuals, key people and others.
  10. Support individuals where abuse has been disclosed.
  11. Contribute to the development and maintenance of healthy and safe practices in the working environment.
  12. Demonstrate a style of leadership that ensures an organisational culture of open and participatory management and practice.
  13. Ensure individuals and groups are supported appropriately when experiencing significant life events and transitions. Maintain and manage records and reports.
  14. Manage the development and direction of the provision.
  15. Promote and manage a quality provision.
  16. Promote the organisation and its services to stakeholders.
  17. Contribute to the development of organisational policy.
  18. Contribute to the development, maintenance and evaluation of systems to promote the rights, responsibilities, equality and diversity of individuals.

  21. Manage dispersed workforce to meet the needs and preferences of individuals in the home.
  22. Contribute to the selection, recruitment and retention of staff to develop a quality service.
  23. Develop joint working agreements and practices and review their effectiveness. Manage the development and direction of the provision.
  24. Develop and maintain and environment which safe guards and protects all persons entering the home.
  25. Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.


Communication:

  • Lead/Participate in staff and resident’s meetings.
  • Record accurate written communications.
  • Give day to day verbal communications.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, families, G.P. and other professional bodies.
